A homeowner's guide
Quick answers
The questions to ask before work on an existing dock or deck.

Can you fix my dock without replacing it?
We restore existing docks and replace worn sections where the structure is a fit. We look first and tell you what can stay and what needs attention.
Do you handle permits?
You obtain any permit the work needs. We supply photos, measurements and a written scope for your application, and schedule work after you have what you need.
More about permitsDo you set pilings or bring in heavy equipment?
No. We do not set or drive pilings, use cranes or heavy machinery, or build boat lifts, bulkheads or new piers from scratch.
How are replacement sections installed?
Replacement sections are built in our shop to match your structure. We deliver them by boat, float them into place and fasten them to what is already there.
How do I get started?
Send us photos of your dock, your nearest town and a few details about what needs attention. We talk through the structure and, if it is a fit, arrange a site visit.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Figure Eight Island, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Leland, Belville, Castle Hayne, Hampstead and Scotts Hill, and coastal communities within about 50 miles of Wrightsville Beach. Near the edge of that area, ask about your project.
Find your townHow long will my project take?
It depends on the scope. The schedule is part of your written estimate.
Do you work on decks too?
Yes. We restore and repair existing waterfront decks as well as existing docks.
Are you insured?
Yes. Skiff & Timber is fully insured, and we can send a certificate of insurance on request.
What affects the cost?
Size, the condition of the frame and connections, replacement sections, hardware and water access all shape the scope. Read what drives restoration cost.
